Wedding Trends 2023

A traditional wedding is classy and timeless, but if you’re into something fresh and modern, consider incorporating some of these top wedding trends into your 2023 event. Planning a wedding is a lot of work, but here at Songbird Parlour, we’re here to help you have a blast doing it! Try not to compare your wedding plans to your best friends’, or the Pinterest Board your coworker shared with you. Blaze your own path and feature the most important things to YOU. Good news, modern weddings are as unique as ever. Read below some of the exciting options when coordinating your special day.

Color

The editors at InfinateWeddingCo.com say “bold and unique color palettes” and Bride.com tells us “colorful decor”, so you can bet this will be one colorful wedding season! Think mismatched bridesmaids dressed in deep green velvets, rich flat reds, and a silky orange paired with a vintage silver bride. It’s not just the party guests that are dressing in new, fun colors— you will see brides in black sequins, pastel periwinkle, and romantic purples, too. A few decades ago, my mother was wed in the most beautiful red dress; I guess she was ahead on the trend! Make sure you pick a color palette that works well together and infuse it into the entire organization of the event. The look below will go exceptionally well in the modern-victorian Songbird Parlour in Sonoma Valley Wine Country. We would also recommend a more natural venue like Villa Chanticleer in Russian River, Sonoma County, Spring Ranch on the Mendocino Coast, or the modern-urban Trou-Normand in San Francisco.

Full Wedding Weekends

Weddings these days aren’t only focused on the bride and groom. More and more, the guest’s experience is taken into consideration. This means several planned activities that elevate the entire weekend for everyone involved. If you’re heading to Wine Country, you might want to book a tour and tasting at a couple wineries on Thursday, followed by a private winemaker’s dinner on Friday, an elaborate wedding Saturday, and picnic in a vineyard on Sunday. “I love that couples are feeling the impulse to extend this level of hospitality to family and friends, particularly when travel is involved. Weddings that are multi-day experiences result in an unparalleled and authentic spirit of community, as guests have more opportunities to meet one another, to spend time together, and to make memories," explains planner Alison Jackson of Pineapple Productions.

We know— this is a lot of work, but your planner will help you organize all of the activities. As long as the wedding itself is chock full of photo ops, Instagram-worthy cocktails, and live music, the peripheral activities need only include the immediate wedding party or family. Some quick and affordable wedding-day activities to keep your guests entertained include a polaroid guest book, a surprise celebrity impersonator, and personal welcome notes at each seat.

Intimate Events

It can be hard to narrow down your guest list, but it is an understandable trend that many couples are wanting and for some great reasons. First, it allows you to have a bigger budget per guest so you can splurge on that Private Mixologist, 6-Course Chef’s Tasting Menu, and the more elaborate tablescape. It also opens up some venue possibilities: a lot of rental homes, wineries, and restaurants don’t consider hosting weddings, but if you have a party of 8 or 12, you can certainly book a Tuscan Villa on AirBnb and throw a dinner party there.
